Kolkata: A case of attack on two MLAs of the ruling Trinamool Congress has come to light in West Bengal. Both the MLAs were attacked at different places. The first case is of attack on TMC MLA from Minkha, Usha Rani Mandal. On Thursday night, his car was stopped and he was beaten up. The second case is of attack on TMC MLA Sukumar Mahata from Sandeshkhali. Sukumar Mahata has also said that some miscreants attacked him. At present the police is busy investigating both the cases.
Attack on Usha Rani Mandal
Police said that Trinamool Congress MLA from Minakha, Usha Rani Mandal, was attacked on Thursday night. The attack took place on Thursday night when she was returning from the Kali Puja pandal. While returning from the pandal, he was allegedly surrounded by 100 to 150 people in Haroa area. TMC MLA Usha Rani Mandal told police that she was pulled out of her car by the mob and beaten up. Many bullets were also fired during this entire incident. “I was forced to get out of my vehicle and was assaulted,” the MLA said. Several bullets were fired.'' He claimed that the attack was carried out by the leader who was suspended from the party for illegal activities before the Lok Sabha elections.
Attack on Sukumar Mahata
In another incident, a case of attack on Trinamool Congress MLA Sukumar Mahata from Sandeshkhali has also come to light. This attack on MLA Sukumar Mahata took place when he was returning from Kali Puja program in Najat. Regarding the attack, MLA Sukumar Mahata said, “When I was returning home after inaugurating the Kali Puja pandal, some miscreants attacked my vehicle. Party workers accompanying my vehicle were beaten up and one had to be hospitalised.'' The MLA alleged that a rival group sidelined for illegal activities was responsible for the attack. Now the police has started investigating both the incidents. Some people have also been arrested in the case, while others are being searched. (input- agency)
